The Grand Canyon Experience

Don’t just stand on the edge and look down!  This is your chance to see one of the world’s natural wonders up close and personal!

grand-canyon.gifOn the Rangers Charity Foundation’s Grand Canyon Experience, you trek into the very heart of the canyon and camp with native Indians in the valley over 3,000 feet below.  Trekking permits are limited for this area, and not many people have the chance to experience the beauty of the Havasupi Reservation, with its stunning blue lagoons and huge waterfalls, one of which is higher than Niagra!grand-canyon-waterfalls.gif

The Sedona area and Oak Creek Canyon rival many of America’s National Parks in their beauty and feature stunning red rock formations. This week-long trip even includes a celebratory night out in Las Vegas at the end of the challenge!

Some key facts:-
• Places on the trip are available on the following dates – 15 -22 May 2010 and 2 - 9 October 2010.
• The trip is organised by experienced charity challenge company Global Adventure Challenges.
• The challenge is open to individuals over the age of 17.
• The trek is designed to be challenging but achievable, provided participants have prepared in advance.  Distances range from 5 to 10 miles each day.
• Participants only have to carry a day pack – your main luggage will be carried for you.
• The cost of the trip includes flights, transfers, accommodation, meals, professional guides, tents, sleeping mats and permits.  grand-canyon-viewpoint.gif
• All participants pay £45 insurance and £349 registration fee.  There are then 2 ways to fund the trip – you can raise £3095 minimum sponsorship which covers the cost of the trip, with the remainder going to the Rangers Charity Foundation OR you can pay the cost of the trip yourself (£1499), with your sponsorship money from family and friends going to the Rangers Charity Foundation.  We would encourage participants using this second funding method to raise as much as possible for the Foundation and would suggest a minimum fundraising target of £1,000.
