The Inca Trail Challenge
The Inca Trail is one of the most famous walking routes in the world and travels through Peru’s stunning landscapes on the way to the world’s most important archaeological find – the lost Inca city of Machu Picchu.
This is your opportunity to trek through the Andes to the majestic sun gate on the original, classic Inca Trail and see the impressive cloud forest, the Huayanay Glacier, rare lichen and orchids and unforgettable views of the mountains.
This challenge also includes the opportunity to see some other sights in Peru, one of South America’s most fascinating countries, including the Inca Capital of Cusco, the bustling market town of Aguas Calientes hidden deep in the Andes and some of the other important Inca sites in the area.
Some key facts:-
• Places on the trip are available on the following dates – 7-16 May 2010; 3 - 12 September 2010; 5 – 14 November 2010.
• The trip is organised by experienced charity challenge company Global Adventure Challenges.
• The challenge is open to everyone over the age of 17.
• The trek is designed to be challenging but achievable, provided participants have prepared in advance. Trekking will take place over 5 consecutive days in high altitude conditions.
• Participants only have to carry a day pack – your main luggage will be carried for you.
• The cost of the trip includes flights, transfers, accommodation, all meals during the trek itself plus celebratory dinner, professional guides, tents, cooks and trekking permits.
• All participants pay £45 insurance and £349 registration fee. There are then 2 ways to fund the trip – you can raise £3095 minimum sponsorship which covers the cost of the trip, with the remainder going to the Rangers Charity Foundation OR you can pay the cost of the trip yourself (£1499), with your sponsorship money from family and friends going to the Rangers Charity Foundation. We would encourage participants using this second funding method to raise as much as possible for the Foundation and would suggest a minimum fundraising target of £1,000.
