Race Night A Galloping Success!
Generous Rangers fans raised £4,700 at the Rangers Charity Foundation’s second sell-out Race Night of the season at Ibrox Stadium. The Foundation’s Race Nights are proving to be a galloping great hit with supporters.
Allan McGregor joined 140 supporters in the Thornton Suite where fans enjoyed a flutter on 9 races and took part in the raffle and charity auction, all in aid of the Foundation and its charity partners Glasgow Old People’s Welfare Association, Teenage Cancer Trust and UNICEF.
Unique items on offer in the auction included Sasa Papac’s Rangers shirt, Ally McCoist’s training top and Allan McGregor’s goalkeeping gloves. Fans also picked up matchday hospitality tickets and other items of signed Rangers memorabilia in the raffle and as prizes in the races themselves.
Allan got well and truly into the spirit of the evening by signing autographs, posing for photographs and presenting prizes to the winners. He also stepped in to help Foundation volunteers by taking a few turns at the betting table as fans came up to place their bets on the races.
Rangers Charity Foundation Manager Connal Cochrane commented, “I’m delighted that the Foundation has been able to stage two sell-out Race Nights within such a short space of time. Along with our recent Race Night on 19 November, the Foundation’s funds have now benefited to the tune of £8,400. This is a very welcome early Christmas present for the Foundation and I would like to thank everyone who attended these events as well as the players for giving their backing to our valuable work. “
