Rangers FC Academy Duo Support Healthy Futures at Cardonald Primary

Tue 17th February 2026

Rangers Academy players Josh Gentles and Zeb Lawson paid a special visit to Cardonald Primary School recently, encouraging pupils to embrace healthy lifestyles through the Rangers Charity Foundation’s ‘Joy of Moving’ programme, delivered in partnership with the SPFL Trust.

The young stars spent part of their day off engaging with the P6 pupils, sharing insights into their journeys in football, discussing the importance of looking after your body, and answering questions about the dedication required to pursue a career in football.

Josh said:

“I had a brilliant time visiting the school. Seeing how much the pupils enjoyed it was the best part. It means a lot to be able to support initiatives like this, spend time with the kids and chat through their questions about football and staying healthy.”

Zeb added:

“Programmes like this make a real difference. Teaching young people about being active and making healthy choices early on is so important. Getting involved in their session and helping out with their activities was really enjoyable.”

‘Joy of Moving’ supports 9-10-year-olds in schools throughout Glasgow, promoting physical activity and balanced nutrition in a fun and engaging way. Over the course of six weeks, pupils take part in interactive classroom learning around healthy eating as well as football sessions led by Rangers Charity Foundation community coaches. By the time Josh and Zeb arrived, the class were able to demonstrate impressive knowledge and enthusiasm, both in discussion and on the pitch.

Rangers Charity Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jordan Boyd, said:

“It was fantastic to welcome Josh and Zeb to Cardonald Primary. They’re excellent examples for young people and both have shown real commitment and determination to reach the level they’re at. Having them here helps reinforce the message that making positive choices and working hard can open doors.

“Our aim is to support the development of healthier communities across Glasgow. Initiatives like Joy of Moving play a vital role in that by equipping young people with the understanding and habits they need to lead active, healthy lives.

“Now in its 11th year, the programme continues to go from strength to strength. Last season alone, we reached more than 3,000 children across the city thanks to classroom delivery and Joy of Moving Festivals.”
