BOXT to Support Rangers Charity Foundation Programmes for Third Successive Year

Tue 1st September 2026

The Rangers Charity Foundation is delighted to announce that community sponsor BOXT will continue its support of the Foundation’s Walking Football and Football Memories programmes for a third consecutive year. As well as funding these initiatives, BOXT will once again support the Foundation’s wider work throughout the season.

Over the past two years, BOXT’s backing has helped both programmes expand their reach, enabling even more people to benefit from services that have already made a significant difference to the lives of hundreds of participants.

Thanks to this renewed commitment, both programmes will continue to be delivered throughout the 2026/27 season.

The Football Memories programme is designed to support supporters living with dementia by encouraging conversation and reminiscence through football. Using archive photographs, memorabilia and discussion prompts, trained Foundation staff help participants recall cherished memories of players, matches and memorable moments from years gone by. Sessions held at the Ibrox Community Complex also welcomed visits from former Rangers players, including Barry Ferguson and Bobby Russell, during the past year.

The programme continues to receive excellent feedback from participants and their carers. Alongside boosting confidence and encouraging social interaction, the sessions provide carers with an opportunity to meet others in similar circumstances and enjoy informal support in a welcoming environment.

Open to anyone aged 50 and over, the Walking Football programme offers a fun and inclusive way to stay active. The adapted version of the game promotes physical wellbeing while reducing the risk of injury, and just as importantly provides participants with regular opportunities to socialise, build friendships and tackle isolation.

Rangers Charity Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jordan Boyd, said: “It’s fantastic news for us that BOXT have once again stepped up to sponsor these two programmes for season 2026/27. Their support over previous two campaigns has allowed us to continue to deliver both of these vital programmes.”

“Their support has given the participants from both programmes consistency and a familiar routine where they have the opportunity to stay in touch with people they’ve met through their participation.”

“A huge part of our programme delivery is focussed on creating healthier lives for our programme participants and we are incredibly grateful to BOXT for their funding support of both of these popular programmes for the upcoming season and we’re looking forward to working with them again.”

BOXT are in their fifth partnership season with Rangers FC, with BOXT branding continuing to feature on the shirt sleeve, alongside their presence in and around Ibrox Stadium through LED advertisements, static in stadia branding and match day branding.

Mel Butler, BOXT CEO and Founder said: “We’re incredibly proud to support the Rangers Charity Foundation’s Walking Football and Football Memories programmes for a third consecutive year. Over the past two seasons, it’s been heartwarming to see the positive impact these initiatives have had – from helping attendees stay active, feel connected, and build their confidence. To creating meaningful moments for participants, their families and carers.

“We’re passionate about supporting our local communities and enriching people’s lives in small but powerful ways, which is why we continue to back the Rangers Charity Foundation. Together, we can continue to improve wellbeing, tackle social isolation, and play our part in supporting these vital services. We look forward to building on our partnership and seeing even more people benefit from these fantastic programmes throughout the 2026/27 season.”

Rangers’ Executive Director, Fraser Thornton, added: “BOXT have been an excellent sponsor not only of Rangers for several years, but also the club’s Foundation, and it is fantastic that they are continuing their support of the Football Memories and Walking Football programmes for a further season.

“Rangers is incredibly proud of the work done by our Foundation in our local communities through their many initiatives, and even more local people will be able to benefit from them now thanks to the support of BOXT.”

The Football Memories group meets on the second and last Friday of every month in the Ibrox Community Complex (ICC), opposite Ibrox Stadium, between 11:30am and 12:30pm.

Walking Football runs every Thursday at the ICC at 11am. Both programmes are completely free for participants. More information can be found on the Rangers Charity Foundation website.
