Ready For Uni

The Ready for Uni programme helps young people take the next step into higher education with confidence. Delivered by the Rangers Charity Foundation in partnership with local universities, the course offers guidance, practical advice, and real insight into university life.

It gives senior pupils and college students the tools they need to succeed at university both academically and personally.

What the Programme Includes

The programme runs throughout the academic year and brings together a range of workshops, mentoring sessions, and campus visits. Each session focuses on helping students understand what to expect at university and how to prepare effectively.

For example, participants:

  • Learn about student life, accommodation, and budgeting.

  • Gain valuable study skills and time-management strategies.

  • Hear directly from current university students about their experiences.

  • Visit university campuses to get a feel for the environment and expectations.

In addition, the programme offers personal support and mentoring to help participants overcome any barriers to higher education. As a result, students finish the course with greater confidence, knowledge, and motivation.

Why the Programme Matters

Many young people feel anxious about moving from school or college into university. However, the Ready for Uni programme removes uncertainty by giving them the tools and preparation they need.

It helps by:

  • Building confidence in academic and social settings.

  • Creating connections between pupils, mentors, and universities.

  • Encouraging independent learning and positive study habits.

  • Providing practical support with applications and university transition.

Furthermore, students gain a realistic understanding of university life, which helps them settle in more easily once they begin their studies.

Who Can Take Part?

The programme welcomes senior secondary school pupils and college students who plan to apply for university. There are no costs involved, and all sessions are inclusive and accessible.

Moreover, the course suits anyone who wants to boost their confidence before starting university — especially those who will be the first in their family to study at that level.
