CashBack – Towards New Futures

The CashBack for Communities – Towards New Futures programme offers young people aged 16–24 who have current or past convictions a real opportunity to build a better future. Delivered by the Foundation at the Ibrox Community Complex, the course runs four days per week for eight weeks. It works closely with Scottish prisons, Govan Thriving Place, and other local referral partners to reach those who need it most.

What the Programme Includes

Each participant takes part in a structured timetable that blends learning, physical activity, and personal growth. For example, participants complete accredited fitness and coaching sessions, attend a Mental Health First Aid course, and gain hands-on work experience.

In addition, because the Foundation is an SQA Centre, every participant has the chance to earn recognised qualifications and certifications. These achievements build confidence and improve employability.

Furthermore, the programme doesn’t stop when the eight weeks end. Ongoing one-to-one support helps graduates stay motivated and continue progressing into training, education, or employment. As a result, participants are better prepared for sustainable positive futures.

Why the Programme Matters

Many young people with justice-system involvement face barriers such as limited job prospects and social isolation. However, this programme provides a practical way forward. It:

  • Offers structured learning and constructive activity

  • Builds confidence, resilience, and communication skills

  • Connects participants directly with employers and training providers

  • Reduces the risk of re-offending through purpose and routine

In addition, participants benefit from ongoing mentorship and access to community resources. Therefore, they gain both the skills and the support network they need to make long-term changes.

Who Can Take Part?

The programme is open to young people aged 16–24 who have experience of the criminal justice system or previous convictions. Importantly, no previous qualifications are needed.

Moreover, the course is completely free of charge, ensuring that financial circumstances never become a barrier to participation. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background or location.
