Ready For Employment
The Ready For Employment programme offers young people aged 18–24 who face significant barriers to entering the workforce a meaningful pathway. Delivered in partnership with Jobcentre Plus, the programme delivers individualised training, confidence building and practical experience to build employability and get participants ready for work.
What the Programme Includes
First, participants engage in a focused training period lasting between three and six weeks. During this time, they:
-
Attend workshops that cover SQA-recognised modules, such as Skills & Strengths Audit, CV building, Interview Techniques and Employer Expectations.
-
Complete technical and practical skills training including IT Skills, Communications Skills, First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid.
-
Gain exposure to employer partners like City Building, Elior Hospitality, Garrion Security and departments within Rangers FC itself — thereby increasing opportunities for placements and work.
Next, they receive ongoing support including structured work placements and after-course resources. As a result, participants leave the programme better prepared, more confident and ready to take positive steps into employment, training or further study.
Why the Programme Makes a Difference
Many young adults struggle with unemployment due to lack of relevant experience, confidence or connections. However, the Ready For Employment programme addresses these issues directly.
It:
-
Provides structured learning and real-life industry exposure
-
Builds soft skills such as teamwork, discipline and communication through football-based and project-based sessions
-
Encourages personal development, wellbeing and positive habits
-
Connects participants to employer networks and support for job applications
In addition, the after-care service keeps the momentum going by offering weekly access to resources, advice and guidance.
