Annual Review 2019/20

Wed 23rd September 2020

We’ve just unveiled our new Annual Review for last season and it’s full of great news about the work we do, key facts and figures and examples of the amazing impact your Foundation has had on our community and the wider world.  Take a look below to read the review in full!

We’ve achieved several important milestones last season, including helping over 2 million children since the beginning of our long-term partnership with Unicef, the world’s leading children’s charity, and smashing the £200,000 barrier in terms of funds donated to homeless projects in Scotland.

Our Hub InThe Community project with Govan High School has proved so successful that two other schools in Glasgow have come on board and for season 2020/21 we will have Hub Officers in both Knightswood Secondary and Drumchapel High.

During the year, we delivered over 20 community programmes reaching 7,509 people of all ages. From Autism Friendly Football and Visually Impaired Football, to our Wider Achievement programme and new Job Club, we are changing lives in the community for the better!

We delivered 780 free hot meals to primary school children via our Go Fitba project, 147 adults lost a total of 577.55kg and 1,052cm around their waists thanks to our Football Fans in Training initiative and our local Food Bank received over 2 tonnes of food and £10,000 thanks to the generosity of our fans and the Foundation.

Our Annual Review also details how we’ve coped with the effects of covid-19 and helped people through these unprecedented times. We’ve worked hard to respond to the needs of the community throughout the pandemic, providing hundreds of weekly fun and educational worksheets for young people, facilitating a donation to provide a daily food service in Govan and sharing weekly football challenges and fitness sessions so kids and adults could stay active.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the Foundation team donated drinks, snacks and treats to hospitals to provide a free tuck shop for patients unable to receive visits from loved ones. We also arranged special videos of support from Rangers First Team players for people in need of a special boost.

Of course, we couldn’t have done it without you, our supporters.  Thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve so much over the last year!

Foundation Director Connal Cochrane commented, “I would like to extend enormous thanks on behalf of everyone at the Rangers Charity Foundation for such amazing support and pay continued tribute to the generosity and trust given to us by our many funders and partners.

“Every year at the Foundation is unique, but perhaps this has been more unique than others. Despite its undoubted challenges our mission and our ability to be a force for good remain stronger than ever and I hope that you will enjoy reading about our activities and achievements in this Annual Review.”
