Collection For Poppyscotland

Wed 25th October 2023

The Foundation is hosting a can collection at the Stadium on Sunday for Poppyscotland as part of Rangers observance of Remembrance Day.

Poppyscotland has been supporting service men and women, veterans, and their families since 1921 with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life.

Please support our Armed Forces community, past and present, by wearing a poppy and donating to the Scottish Poppy Appeal who will be in and around the Stadium before the game against Hearts. By doing so, you will be helping Poppyscotland provide life-changing support for the Armed Forces community in Scotland, including funding services in relation to advice, employment, housing, mental health, and mobility.

The Rangers Charity Foundation has been a long-term supporter of Poppyscotland and was recently presented, along with the club, with a special honour from the charity, marking their significant contributions over the last few years.

The club and Foundation have helped to raise over £118,000 for Poppyscotland between 2019 and 2022, thanks to Remembrance Day can collections, the auction of embroideredthree men holding a framed certificate Remembrance Day matchworn shirts, the sale of Poppyscotland’s dual branded Rangers badges and the Foundation’s fundraising for Poppyscotland as part of its Armed Forces Fund.

Commenting, Gordon Michie, Head of Fundraising and Learning at Poppyscotland, commented:

“The support that Rangers Football Club, and the Rangers Charity Foundation, provides is such a key pillar of the Scottish Poppy Appeal.”

“It allows Poppyscotland to provide our first-in-class welfare services, whilst also helping to provide the capacity to keep these services agile.

“Over the last year, we have helped over 5,000 veterans and their families, and have provided millions of pounds in cost-of-living support. Without the support of the Rangers family, this support could cease to exist.

“The bottom line is, that could be the difference between a life lived and a life lost.

“So please do support this year’s Scottish Poppy Appeal by wearing one of our new plastic-free Poppy’s, or by purchasing our best-selling Rangers FC Poppy pin badge, which features a brand new design this year. These are available through our website.”
