Danny Röhl Helps Mark £10K Donation to Armed Forces Partners
Fri 24th April 2026
Danny Röhl has helped mark the end of the Rangers Charity Foundation’s season-long partnership with Community Veterans Support and Poppyscotland by celebrating a £10,000 donation from the Foundation’s Armed Forces Fund.
The Foundation’s Armed Forces Fund selects services-related charities to work with each season and for season 2025/26, Poppyscotland and Community Veterans Support are the beneficiaries.
The donation has been split between the charities, who do incredible work to support the services community and their families. The Foundation also worked with both charities throughout the season.
Danny Röhl said:
“I think it is really important that we show our support for the armed services and veterans, so it’s great that the Foundation had made this important donation to the two charities.
“I know how hard the Rangers Charity Foundation works to make a difference for so many people. I’d like to thank all the supporters who have given the Foundation their backing to enable this donation to be made today.”
Based locally in Govan at the Pearce Institute, Community Veterans Support provides a safe and welcoming environment where veterans can meet, relax, find peer support and access additional services.
The Centre welcomes all veterans and serving personnel and provides a hot lunch every day mid-week, a place to do laundry free of charge and weekly activities such as wellbeing walks, darts and pool competitions and guest speakers.
Veterans can also access a range of other help including emergency food parcels and financial assistance or accommodation, expert advice and referral services.
David Devenney, Director of Community Veterans Support said:
“Once again, Community Veterans Support are delighted to be the recipients of this charitable award. In almost 13 years our ambition has never changed – ‘To meet the needs of any Veteran who walks through our doors’.”
“This award will help continue our work of holistically supporting our veterans and their families. Thank you once again to the Rangers Charity Foundation for this generous donation.”
Poppyscotland provide support for current and former members of the Armed Forces as well as their families, in recognition of their sacrifices and service.
The charity helps countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life.
Services provided by Poppyscotland include financial support, advice, help with mobility issues, housing and mental health.
Damian Doran-Timson, Corporate Fundraiser, Poppyscotland, said:
“We wish to thank Rangers Charity Foundation for choosing Poppyscotland as one of the charities to benefit from this season’s annual Armed Forces Fund.
“This very generous donation enables Poppyscotland to continue our ever important work supporting the Armed Forces community and their families by providing mental health and financial support, and the other essential welfare services that make a life-changing difference to those who have given so much for all of us.”
Foundation Chief Executive Connal Cochrane added:
“Our Armed Forces Fund donations this season are for two fantastic causes which do incredible work to support the wider armed forces community.
“This donation represents just one aspect of our work throughout the year where we, with the club’s support, recognise the dedication and sacrifice of armed services personnel and veterans.”
The Rangers Charity Foundation has a long and proud tradition of working with services related charities and was a joint signatory, along with the Club, to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016.
We went on to become the first club and club charity in the UK to receive the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme’s Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence in 2019.
The Foundation has donated over £271,000 in cash to armed forces and veterans’ charities to date, as well as significant in-kind support. Donations have included over £57,000 to veterans’ charity Erskine and £40,000 to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, as well as smaller donations to many others such as Combat Stress, SSAFA, The Coming Home Centre and AA Veterans Support.
