Foundation To Launch New Saturday Night Youth Hub

Tue 17th September 2024

The Rangers Charity Foundation is delighted to launch a brand new community initiative, the RCF Youth Hub, on Saturday 12 October for young people aged 12-18 in the Govan/Pollokshields area and beyond.

This new pilot project has received funding of £8,942 from The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland, which will allow the Hub to run for an initial 20-week pilot phase.

The RCF Youth Hub will give local young people a safe space to meet and take part in a range of different activities each Saturday between 6pm and 8pm. Participants can simply register on arrival.

Our newly refurbished indoor hall and 3G surface at the Ibrox Community Complex will provide access to football and indoor sports, supervised by our community coaches. Games consoles will also be available as well as a general social space.

The project aims to provide young people with a safe, supervised location where they can improve their physical and mental wellbeing as well as building social connections through a range of activities.

Speaking prior to the launch of the programme, Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jordan Boyd, said:

“We are delighted to have received funding for this new project from The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland.”

“This funding allows us to create an environment for the young people to make their own. With their support we will look to grow this project to better meet the needs of all involved.”

“This will be the first community programme to launch as part of our ‘A Foundation For Our Local Community’ pillar and we are excited to be able deliver this project for the young people of Govan and Pollokshields area.”

Announcing the latest round of grants, Kate Still, Scotland Chair, The National Lottery Community Fund said:

“As The National Lottery prepares to mark its 30th birthday later this year, today’s investment is a timely reminder of the difference that National Lottery players continue to make to communities across the country.”
