Loyal Luge and True Blue Bobsleigh – NARSA Challenges 2018!
Thu 26th April 2018
Rangers fans heading to the North American Rangers Supporters Association Convention (NARSA) in Calgary, Alberta are being invited to take part in one of two exhilarating fundraising challenges for the Foundation!
Inspired by the recent Winter Olympics, NARSA attendees can choose to sign up for either the True Blue Bobsleigh or the Rangers Loyal Luge NARSA Challenge 2018.
Both taking place on Thursday, May 31, supporters will be bussed from the Hotel Arts to Calgary’s Winter Olympic Park.
Rangers Loyal Luge
The Rangers Loyal Luge will see thrill seeking supporters lying on their backs on a tiny wheeled sled hurtling down the purpose built concrete track at the Skyline Luge in the Park, reaching speeds of up to 140km per hour.
With minimal protective clothing the event is one of the most dangerous sports events and isn’t for the faint hearted!
Those brave enough to take on the challenge will have the opportunity to enjoy three luge rides down the track. Accessed via a chairlift, supporters will drop over 100m (328ft) from the start zone and luge through more than 50 twists and turns covering a distance of over 1800m on a continuous downhill trajectory.
The cost to take part in the Rangers Loyal Luge NARSA Challenge 2018 is just £20/$35 (Canadian).
True Blue Bobsleigh
The True Blue Bobsleigh is a 30-minute adrenaline-pumping summer bobsleigh challenge. You will be shuttled up to the starting point at the top of the bobsleigh run, then its time to pull on your helmet and safety equipment and hop into your bobsleigh with your Olympian pilot. Then, strap in and hold on tight for the ride of your life!
Zoom down the iconic Olympic track at speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h) and test your nerve against the hair-raising 2-g twists
and turns! This once-in-a-lifetime experience includes all necessary equipment and an expert pilot.
The cost to take part in the True blue Bobsleigh NARSA Challenge is just £40/$70 (Canadian), and the event takes place on the morning of Friday 1st June.
Participants in either challenge are asked to try to raise a minimum of £50/$90 (Canadian) for the Rangers Charity Foundation to help support our work making a difference on behalf of the Rangers Family. The money raised from this event could help the Foundation support the work of a number of amazing charity partners including Scottish Autism, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and Erskine. The Foundation also has over 25 community programmes such as Recovery with Rangers and Football Fans in Training which are making a real difference to people living locally to the Club.
All those who take part and raise over £100/$180 (Canadian) for the Foundation will be invited to an exclusive reception at Ibrox later in the year to be presented with a True Blue Hero medal and pin badge by a Rangers first team player. Those who are unable to attend will be sent their medal and pin badge along with a personal thank you letter from a player.
To take part in both challenges you must be in good health, free of heart conditions, motion sickness, back problems or other physical limitations. Children can participate in the luge, although those under 110cm must ride with an accompanying adult.
This year’s NARSA Challenge is once again being organised by Rangers Charity Foundation volunteer Karen Watson. Karen has organised many successful NARSA challenges including last year’s SlotZilla Challenge in Las Vegas, the tough Grouse Grind hike and the CN Tower’s EdgeWalk Challenge. Karen will be at the convention and will be coordinating the Rangers Loyal Luge NARSA Challenge on the day.
Thank you too to Calgary Rangers Supporters Club which is sponsoring the transport for the challenges.
To sign up, email Karen Watson via karenwatson926@gmail.com or contact the Rangers Charity Foundation on (+44) 0141 580 8775 to pay your registration fee and secure your place.
