New Video Showcases Impact of Hub in the Community at Govan High School
Fri 12th June 2026
A new Rangers Charity Foundation video is shining a spotlight on the life-changing impact of our Hub in the Community programme through the experiences of a young person and family supported at Govan High School.
The film follows Community Hub Officer and Coordinator, Scott Smith, and highlights the support he has provided to pupil Declin and his mum, Sharon, helping Declin continue to work towards his qualifications despite facing significant barriers to attending school
Through the Hub in the Community programme, Scott has built a trusted relationship with Declin, working alongside him outside of the school building to help him engage with his studies in a way that meets his individual needs. The support has enabled Declin to remain connected to education and continue progressing towards his qualifications, while also providing reassurance and practical support to his family.
The video also hears from Sharon, who speaks about the positive difference Scott’s support has made to both Declin and their family, helping ensure he can continue learning and working towards a brighter future.
Delivered in partnership with four local Glasgow schools, Hub in the Community places dedicated Community Hub Officers in secondary schools to support young people facing challenges that may impact their education, wellbeing and future opportunities. Through tailored one-to-one support, mentoring and relationship-building, Hub Officers help pupils overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jamie Duncanson, said:
“This video is a powerful example of what can be achieved when young people receive the right support at the right time. Scott’s work with Declin and Sharon demonstrates the importance of building trusted relationships and providing flexible, person-centred support that meets young people where they are.
“We are incredibly grateful to The Robertson Trust for their support of our Hubs in the Community programme. Their funding commitment is helping us continue and strengthen this vital work in schools across Glasgow, allowing Community Hub Officers to support more young people facing barriers to education and helping them remain engaged, achieve qualifications and reach their potential.”
Earlier this year, the Rangers Charity Foundation received a £90,000 grant from The Robertson Trust to enhance and sustain the Hub in the Community programme over the next three years. The funding will support the continued delivery of interventions that help young people overcome challenges, improve engagement with education and create positive pathways for the future.
