Rangers Charity Foundation Awarded £90,000 Grant to Enhance School Support Programme

Thu 31st July 2025

The Rangers Charity Foundation is delighted to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £90,000 from The Robertson Trust in support of its Hub in the Community programme.

The significant funding boost will help the Foundation strengthen the delivery of this initiative, which currently places dedicated Hub Officers in four local secondary schools to provide tailored support to pupils facing a variety of challenges. The programme is a cornerstone of our mission to be a force for good in the community and to help young people realise their potential.

The grant from The Robertson Trust will be used over the next three years to sustain and enhance the Foundation’s ability to support some of Glasgow’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. The funding will contribute towards the overall delivery of the programme, ensuring young people continue to benefit from long-term, consistent support.

Rangers Charity Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jamie Duncanson, commented:

“We are really pleased to be receiving this grant from The Robertson Trust. Their values align closely with our own and this support will allow us to grow the impact of our Hub in the Community programme.

“This support means we can continue to offer meaningful, one-to-one interventions that truly help pupils build confidence, stay engaged with school, and plan for a brighter future.”

“The Hub model is built on trust, consistency and a deep understanding of the barriers some young people face.

Launched in 2021, Hub in the Community is currently active in four secondary schools in Glasgow: Govan High School, Knightswood Secondary, Whitehill Secondary and Drumchapel High. It has shown impressive results, with pupils demonstrating improved attendance, greater self-confidence, and enhanced wellbeing. Hub Officers work in partnership with school staff to offer a range of one-to-one and group sessions that focus on resilience and developing positive life skills.

Lorna Wallace, Funding Officer at The Robertson Trust, said: “The Robertson Trust is committed to funding and supporting work that can help to drive social change.

“Through the use of football as a tool for engagement, and by working in close partnership with schools and families, this Hub model can offer vital support both during term time and throughout the holidays. It recognises the powerful role that trusted, consistent relationships and community-based interventions can play in the lives of young people.

“We look forward to seeing how this work continues to grow and the difference it makes for young people and their communities. “

The Robertson Trust is the largest independent grant-making trust in Scotland. It funds and supports a wide range of charities across the country. The Robertson Trust uses all its resource to advance its charitable purposes.
