Rangers Charity Foundation Donates £20,000 To Children First

Fri 4th June 2021

Rangers Charity Foundation has donated £20,000 to National Charity Partner, Children 1st.

The Foundation pledged to support Scotland’s national children’s charity with its Children 1st Parentline service, which aims to make sure that every family can get support from their home at the touch of a button.

Rangers Charity Foundation Director, Connal Cochrane, commented:

“We’re proud to have worked with a range of national partners over many years, each of which has made a lasting difference to communities across Scotland.

“Our partnership with Children 1st has presented an important opportunity to reach families who might need help but are unsure how to access it. The pandemic has put extra pressures on families and by supporting and promoting Children 1st Parentline, we hope to help highlight to families across Scotland that they do not need to cope alone – help is always there.

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, the £20,000 raised enables Children 1st to fund 40 additional volunteers and help ensure the service remains free – meaning more families in Scotland can get support when they need it.”

Children 1st works alongside families to help them build the strong relationships that make all the difference to a child’s long-term development and which can also keep them safe from harm. Doing things together – like watching football – can help children build positive relationships, which helps them develop into healthy adults.

Earlier in the partnership, Rangers Charity Foundation and Children 1st asked fans to create and share positive #MatchdayMemories of themselves enjoying football with their family or friends.

Gary Kernahan, Director of Fundraising at Children 1st said: “A huge thank you to Rangers Charity Foundation and the fans for helping children in Scotland live safer and happier lives. Every family has their ups and downs and we all need a bit of support sometimes. For many families during the pandemic Children 1st Parentline has been a lifeline. At this time when families have needed Children 1st Parentline more than ever the support from Rangers Charity Foundation is invaluable.”

Children 1st Parentline is there for all families who are struggling and need practical, emotional or financial support. Children 1st Parentline can be accessed – by phone 08000 28 22 33, by email parentlinescotland@children1st.org.uk or online www.children1st.org.uk/parentline.
