Rangers Charity Foundation Launches 150th Anniversary Appeal

Wed 20th October 2021

To commemorate the monumental 150th anniversary of Rangers Football Club, the Rangers Charity Foundation is launching a special 150 Anniversary Appeal to help build the future of the Foundation, and you can donate to this initiative here.

Created by the Club in 2002, The Rangers Charity Foundation exists to be a force for good on behalf of the Rangers Family, showing compassion to those in need, tackling inequalities and creating opportunities for people of all ages to change their lives for the better.

Our comprehensive range of programmes in the community reaches thousands of children and adults, offering life-changing opportunities in education, health and wellbeing, employability and diversity and inclusion.

We work with charity partners each season to fund projects that have a lasting and significant impact locally, nationally and across the world. This season we are working with Glasgow City Mission, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Age Scotland, Armed Forces and Veterans related charities and Unicef, the world’s leading children’s charity.

We are also very proud of helping thousands of fundraisers support causes close to their hearts every season by making in-kind donations, assisting various community initiatives such as our local food bank and making dreams come true for people in most need of a boost.

Supporters can get behind the appeal in a variety of ways, from making a direct donation to getting involved in one of our special 150 Appeal events which will be going on throughout the season. These events will include a special auction, raffles, True Blue Hero challenges and lots more. Stay tuned for our limited edition Foundation branded kit auction coming very soon!

As always, supporters can get creative with their own challenges and help us build the Foundation for the future.

The 150th anniversary appeal logo incorporates the symbolic commemorative club crest – influenced by one of the decorative crests featuring an ornamental scroll ribbon from the club’s earliest documented members’ books and synonymous with the crest displayed on the side elevation of the iconic Bill Struth Main Stand as well as a special ‘all gold’ version of the Foundation’s scarf.

With a target of £150,000 by the end of the season, by donating to this legacy appeal, you will help fund the following projects:

A New 3 Year Disability Football Programme

The Foundation has identified a need to create a new football programme for young people with learning disabilities who may not be able to access mainstream football. Following on from the huge success of our Autism Friendly Football and Visually Impaired Football programmes, we aim to ensure everyone who wants to play football has the opportunity to take part, make friends, get fit and have fun.

Expansion of Hub in the Community Schools Model

Originally based on the model at Manchester United, this highly successful programme sees a full time school-based Hub Officer employed to assist vulnerable pupils with attainment, attendance and post school destinations. This programme started in Govan High in 2018 and was so successful that it expanded last season to two additional schools, Drumchapel High and Knightswood Secondary.

We want to develop the programme even further to include more school partners, helping even more vulnerable children get the help and support they need to fulfil their potential.

Ibrox Community Hub Renovation

With the expanded annual delivery of over 26 community programmes, many of which are based at Ibrox, our 150 Appeal will help address an urgent need to renovate the Ibrox Community Hub in order to continue to deliver life changing courses to as many people as possible.

Dream Fund

At the Rangers Charity Foundation, we are passionate about bringing smiles to the faces of those who are in real need of a boost. Expanding our Dream Fund will allow us to provide even more special experiences for terminally ill and disabled supporters, as well those who have gone through a recent difficult time or experience.

If you would like to discuss your ideas for supporting the appeal, please phone 0141 580 8775 or email rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk
