Rangers Supporters Donate To Urgent Foundation Food Bank Appeal
Fri 2nd September 2022
Rangers supporters have generously donated dozens of bags containing urgent supplies for Glasgow food banks.
Rangers Charity Foundation made an appeal to fans to bring some non-perishable groceries to the home match on Saturday 27 August against Ross County at Ibrox stadium.
Four local groups will receive the items from this collection including; Crookston Community Group, Kindness, The Trussell Trust (Glasgow South West Foodbank) and Refuweegee, as part of the #fanssupportingfoodbanks movement and National Food Bank Day on 2 September.
Laura McSorley, who set up Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow, said: “We can’t thank the Rangers supporters enough for showing their kindness at helping out at the recent food drive.
“Our charity Kindness Homeless Street Team Glasgow were overwhelmed by the amount of non perishable food items we received. This has gone a long way to help us replenish our stock for our food parcels as the demand is increasing so this will be a lifeline to many of our service users.
“Our donation centre is at 417 London Road, open 11-2pm every day but closed on a Thursday. Feel free to drop in if anyone needs any support.”
Connal Cochrane, Director of the Rangers Charity Foundation, said:
“We wish to thank everyone who donated bags of items to our match day food bank collection on Saturday.
“We were overwhelmed by the generosity shown before the match, especially during these challenging times for many.
“With the rising cost of living, food banks have been in greater demand, so we are very grateful to supporters for helping our local food banks who are in desperate need of supplies.”
