SAMH Matchday Takeover

Tue 6th May 2025

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and to highlight the importance of mental health the Foundation will celebrate its partnership with SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) at the match on 11th May at Ibrox.

Watch out for representatives from the Foundation and SAMH on the pitch at half time and for SAMH videos which will be shown on the Jumbotrons throughout the day.  Plus, the team will support this great cause by wearing SAMH t-shirts during the warm-up today.

SAMH will have a stall in Edmiston House where supporters can pick up information or get advice on mental health issues. There will also be an opportunity to hand in old mobile phones and tech items for recycling, with the profits supporting SAMH’s work.

If you have any of the following, they can be easily recycled, which equals donations for SAMH! –

  • Jewellery and watches (all materials, even broken or damaged)
  • Currency (foreign or out of circulation)
  • Stamps
  • Mobile phones
  • Cameras (video, film and digital)
  • Sat-navs
  • Games consoles (including games and accessories)
  • MP3 players
  • Tablets

We will also be hosting a can collection in aid of SAMH around the Stadium before kick-off. The funds raised, and this season’s donation from the Foundation, will help SAMH end mental health waiting list challenges for tens of thousands of people across Scotland, thanks to a groundbreaking new initiative called The Nook.

The £10m project will revolutionise access to support by creating the nation’s first ever network of free walk-in mental health support hubs, finally giving people experiencing mental health problems a place to get help fast.

The largest mental health charity initiative in Scotland’s history, The Nook will provide barrier-free access to mental health support. There will be no need to book an appointment, no need for NHS referrals, and no waiting lists. Anyone looking for help can walk through the door whenever they need to.

The Foundation has been on-board with this pioneering initiative since the beginning of the season and was delighted to reveal, when the project was announced recently, that it will be sponsoring a space dedicated to children and young people within the Glasgow Nook currently being created in the city centre.
