Sign up now – New Rangers Charity Foundation volunteering programme

Fri 13th October 2017

The Rangers Charity Foundation is proud to launch a new volunteer programme which will boost its impact and help the Foundation make even more of a difference in the community.

We are keen to create a team of volunteers who are able to give up some of their time throughout the season to assist us with a number of initiatives from match day activities to helping with community clean ups around the Stadium. No matter what activity you get involved in, rest assured you will be making difference on behalf of the Foundation and the Rangers Family.

With the launch of our new volunteering programme we are expanding our True Blue Hero initiative – meaning all supporters who volunteer 25 hours of their time or more to any of our designated projects will be recognised as True Blue Heroes in the same way as those who fundraise £100 or more for us by taking on a personal challenge.

We strongly believe that the donation of time is just as important as donating money and we hope this is a way to show our volunteers how much they are appreciated.

As a True Blue Hero each volunteer who reaches the 25 hour target will be invited along to an exclusive reception at Ibrox to be presented with a True Blue Hero medal and pin badge by a First Team player!

Listed below are a number of current opportunities and the Foundation will be adding to them as the season progresses.

All those interested in becoming a Rangers Charity Foundation volunteer are invited to email their contact details to our Senior Charity Executive Karen Mathie or you can call her on 0141 580 8775.

No previous experience is required to become a volunteer as all training will be provided. Anyone under the age of 16 who volunteers will need to be accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.

Current volunteering opportunities

  • Match Day Activities

The Foundation aims to increase our presence on a match day throughout Season 17/18 in order to engage further with Rangers fans, but we simply couldn’t do this without the amazing energy and enthusiasm of our volunteers.

If you would love to increase your involvement with the Foundation, meet new like-minded people and make a difference of behalf of the Rangers Family, then match day volunteering could be perfect for you.

We would simply need you to be willing to give a couple of hours of your time before some home matches.

Volunteers are not expected to help out at every match and activities will vary from week to week and could include giving supporters information about the work of the Foundation, promoting events, signing people up to our e-newsletter and occasionally bucket collecting.

We are currently looking for volunteers at the following matches at Ibrox (dates and kick off times subject to change):

· Rangers v Kilmarnock on Wed 25th Oct 2017 (7.45pm kick off)
· Rangers v Hamilton on Sat 18th Nov 2017 (3pm kick off)
· Rangers v Aberdeen on Wed 29th Nov 2017 (7.45pm kick off)
· Rangers v Ross County on Sat 9th Nov 2017 (3pm kick off)
· Rangers v St Johnstone on Sat 16th Dec 2017 (3pm kick off)
· Rangers v Hibs on Sat 3rd Feb 2018 (3pm kick off)
· Rangers v Kilmarnock on Sat 17th Mar 2018 (3pm kick off)
· Rangers v Dundee on Sat7th Apr 2018 (3pm kick off)

  • Collection Can Managers

We are looking for some people who are able to give a regular commitment to assist with the placement of collection cans around the Stadium on match days, and with the maintenance and management of them.

If you have some free time to help look after our collecting cans on a match day, we would love to hear from you!

Please note, as this role involves cash handling, we will look to obtain two references before appointing this role.

  • Help keep Ibrox beautiful

· Sunday 29th October 2017, 11am–12:30pm
· Sunday 12th November 2017, 11am–12:30pm
· Sunday 17th December 2017, 11am–12:30pm

· Sunday 4th February 2018, 11am–12:30pm
· Sunday 11th March 2018, 11am–12:30pm
· Sunday 8th April 2018, 11am–12:30pm

We are looking for a team of people to enter into the community spirit with us, and help us to make a real difference to the area around Ibrox Stadium. Duties may include litter picking around local streets and helping identify areas that may require a little bit of extra care and attention. This voluntary event is suitable for people of all ages and all equipment will be provided.

We are working together with Community Safety Glasgow to arrange the regular clean ups and volunteers will be asked to meet at the Stadium for a pre-clean team talk, and we will then head out for an hour or so before heading back to Ibrox for some well-deserved refreshments.

“Ibrox has been the home of Rangers for over 100 years and is an area we are proud to be part of,” Karen Mathie explained.

“As an active member of the community we already have a number of local projects in place such as our walking football programme and weekly football fans in training sessions. This new inititiative builds on that even further as we strive to continue playing our part in being a good neighbour.”

For further information on volunteering opportunities with the Rangers Charity Foundation contact Karen via email at rangerscharity@rangers.co.uk or call 0141 580 8775.
