Walter Smith Awarded Julie Wales Special Recognition Award

We were proud to welcome Ethel, Neil and Steven Smith to our 20th Anniversary Platinum Ball at the weekend to receive the Julie Wales Special Recognition Award on behalf of our friend and supporter, the late Walter Smith OBE.
Walter was an inspiring figure on and off the pitch and over the years did so much for the Foundation, from taking part in challenges such as the Idaho White Water Rafting challenge and Walk With Walter to attending ‘An Evening With…’ question and answer events and Simply The Best Night In.
Walter was a regular attendee at the Charity Ball and always took part in the fundraising activities, once memorably winning a day out with himself at the training ground in Game For A Gamble! He gave of his time generously and meant a great deal to everyone at the Foundation.
The Julie Wales Award was created in 2014 in memory of one of our long-time volunteers who passed away suddenly and recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual or team to the Foundation.
Walter Smith is a very worthy winner and we were delighted that Walter’s wife and sons could attend the Ball to accept the award on his behalf.
