Young Carers Scholarships – Kali
Tue 12th May 2026
The Foundation has pledged to raise £20,000 for Carers Trust Scotland this season, with £15,000 paying for 15 scholarships at the Education Academy, providing young carers with some extra help and support to offset the school time they miss owing to their caring responsibilities.
The Young Carers Scholarships are the first of their kind in Scotland and include tuition, wellbeing support and mentoring opportunities to help participants thrive in their studies and beyond.
Kali is one of the young carers benefitting from the programme.
She wants to go to university and eventually work with children with additional support needs, or as a vet nurse.
Kali cares for her brother, providing hands-on support with cooking, getting him ready for school, showering and personal care to help him feel safe and comfortable but she also does her best to stay focussed at school, so she can pursue her ambitions.
Our Young Carers Scholarship has helped ease financial pressure for Kali and has opened up new opportunities, meaning she can continue to make a positive difference in her family while letting her focus on her aspirations.
She commented:
“I am proud of the care I give to my sibling, and this support is helping me continue caring while working hard towards a better future for myself.”
