New Armed Forces Fund Partners Announced

Wed 24th September 2025

The Foundation is delighted to announce that Poppyscotland and Community Veterans Support will be the beneficiaries of this season’s Armed Forces Fund.

We’ve pledged to raise £10,000 to be split between the charities, who do incredible work to support the services community and their families.

Based locally in Govan at the Pearce Institute, Community Veterans Support provides a safe and welcoming environment where veterans can meet, relax, find peer support and access additional services.

The Centre welcomes all veterans and serving personnel and provides a hot lunch every day mid-week, a place to do laundry free of charge and weekly activities such as wellbeing walks, darts and pool competitions and guest speakers.

Veterans can also access a range of other help including emergency food parcels and financial assistance or accommodation, expert advice and referral services.

David Devenney, Director, Community Veterans Support commented:

“Community Veterans Support has been a beacon of hope for Armed Forces veterans for over 12 years, dedicated to meeting them at their point of need. We are delighted to be selected by Rangers Charity Foundation to receive this funding, which will be used to make a difference in the lives of our veterans.”

Poppyscotland provide support for current and former members of the Armed Forces as well as their families, in recognition of their sacrifices and service.

The charity helps countless men, women and families with issues linked to their time in the Armed Forces or with struggles adjusting from military to civilian life.

Services provided by Poppyscotland include financial support, advice, help with mobility issues, housing and mental health.

Damian Doran-Timson, Corporate Fundraiser, Poppyscotland commented: “We are delighted that the Rangers Charity Foundation has chosen Poppyscotland as one of the charities to benefit from its Armed Forces Fund.

“This generous support will help us continue providing vital services to the Armed Forces community in Scotland. We look forward to working with the Foundation and its supporters throughout the year.”

The Rangers Charity Foundation’s Chief Executive Connal Cochrane added:

“Our commitment to supporting armed forces personnel, veterans and their families remains steadfast and, with the generous support of the Rangers Family, I’m delighted that our Armed Forces Fund will be assisting two such good causes this season.”

The Foundation has a long and proud tradition of working with services related charities and has donated over £261,000 in cash to armed forces and veterans’ charities to date, as well as significant in-kind support.  We also provide a range of direct services in the community for veterans via our Veterans at Ease and Glasgow Veterans United programmes.

Along with the Club, the Foundation was a joint signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant in 2016 and went on to become the first football club charity in the UK to receive the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Scheme’s Gold Award from the Ministry of Defence in 2019, along with Rangers FC.  We were delighted and proud that this Gold Award status was renewed in 2024.
