BOXT extends support of Foundation’s Walking Football and Football Memories Programmes
Mon 18th August 2025
The Rangers Charity Foundation is delighted to announce that BOXT, one of its community sponsors, will continue to fund its Walking Football and Football Memories programmes for a second successive year. BOXT will also support the wider work of the Foundation over the course of the season.
Last season, the support from BOXT enabled both of these established programmes, which have already improved the lives of hundreds of people, to reach and help even more people.
With a further year of support, BOXT have ensured that both programmes will continue to run throughout the 2025/26 football season.
Football Memories helps fans living with dementia by using historic football photos and memorabilia to trigger memories and spark conversation. At the Ibrox Community Complex, trained coaches guide discussions about past teams and matches, using visual aids to encourage reminiscence and engagement. This year guests enjoyed visits and talks from ex-players including Colin Stein and Alex MacDonald as well as a visit from Jimmy Nicholl.
Participants and their carers have shared overwhelmingly positive feedback. The sessions have significantly improved confidence and self-esteem among attendees, while also offering carers a chance to connect with others in similar situations and enjoy a relaxed chat over a cup of tea.
The Walking Football programme, open to those aged 50 and above, encourages physical activity and social interaction through a modified, non-contact version of the game. This slower-paced format reduces the risk of injury and strain, promotes fitness, and helps combat feelings of loneliness for many of its participants.
Rangers Charity Foundation Community Programmes Manager, Jordan Boyd, said:
“I’m extremely pleased to have BOXT on board with us again this season. Their support last year allowed us to reach more than 160 people directly with these important programmes and provide some incredible experiences for participants as well.”
“For us, being able to keep these programmes running consistently for another season is so important because we see how much of a difference they can make in people’s lives.”
“We’re really grateful for the support from BOXT and look forward to working closely with them as the principal sponsor of these two programmes as well as across some of our other work this season.”
BOXT are in their fourth partnership season with Rangers FC, with BOXT branding continuing to feature on the shirt sleeve, alongside their presence in and around Ibrox Stadium through LED advertisements, static in stadia branding and match day branding.
Mel Butler, BOXT CEO and Co-Founder said:
“At BOXT, we’re committed to enhancing our customer’s homes and lives through smart energy installations. And this same belief empowers our partnership programmes, day in and day out.
“Over the years, we’ve enjoyed a successful four-year relationship with Rangers FC, which has deepened our understanding of the club’s community. With this in mind, we’re excited to extend our support for the Rangers Charity Foundation, as well as its Walking Football and Football Memories programmes.
“Sports are a powerful way of bringing people together. And by supporting these initiatives, we’ll help to create even more opportunities and positive memories for everyone involved.”
Rangers FC Head of Commercial Partnerships, Scott Williams, commented:
“We are delighted that our valued official sleeve partner, BOXT, have committed their support to the Rangers Charity Foundation for another season.
“Our friends at BOXT are a strong, UK-operated business, and whilst they are not based locally, they continue to embed themselves into the fabric of our great football club with their generosity to our supporters, as well as the people of Glasgow.
“We have enjoyed three very successful years in partnership already, and we look forward to working with them for many more years to come.”
The Football Memories group meets on the second and last Friday of every month in the Ibrox Community Complex (ICC), opposite Ibrox Stadium, between 11:30am and 12:30pm.
Walking Football runs every Thursday at the ICC at 11am. Both programs are completely free for participants. More information can be found on the Rangers Charity Foundation website.
