CGM Report Shows Importance of Overnight Welcome Centre
Wed 23rd June 2021
Our partner Glasgow City Mission’s report on the activities of the Overnight Welcome Centre over the course of the winter months shows just how vital our support of this service is!
The Overnight Welcome Centre (OWC) provided emergency accommodation for over 200 individuals and was very different to the previous Winter Night Shelter owing to the pandemic.
Guests were able to socially distance and self-isolate if necessary and the service ran for 24-hours a day, allowing staff to really build up relationships of trust and work with guests to find them accommodation.
Glasgow City Mission also provided a hot evening meal, which was made at the charity’s city centre project and then transported to the OWC.
The OWC provided safe, emergency accommodation to anyone at risk of rough sleeping in Glasgow during the cold winter months and undoubtedly saved lives.
Well done to everyone who took part in our Sleep Outs from Home and raised funds for this important cause!
