Recruiting Schools For Get Ready For Sport

Wed 30th August 2023

We’re now recruiting new schools for our early primary Get Ready For Sport health and wellbeing programme.

Last season we delivered Get Ready For Sport to 198 classes in 97 schools, reaching over 2400 pupils. One hundred percent of the teachers involved said they would recommend the programme to other schools.

The programme aims to encourage children in primaries 1 – 3 to get active and learn about their own health and fitness. The course is designed to improve motor skills and hand-eye coordination, build confidence and positive attitudes and encourage teamwork.

Over eight weeks, children spend 50 minutes a week taking part in a fun physical activity, playing structured games, followed by a 10-minute workshop and group discussion on the importance of healthy lifestyles.

Research shows that young people who take part in sports from an earlier age are more likely to understand the importance of exercising and continue to take part in physical activity as they get older.  Get Ready For Sport helps to create healthier futures for the next generation by developing good habits and health awareness from an early age.
