Supporting The Overnight Welcome Centre
Wed 24th November 2021
We couldn’t be prouder that we are once again helping Glasgow City Mission to deliver the Overnight Welcome Centre this winter, providing a safe, warm place to sleep for those who had no other alternative than to sleep on the streets.
Our generous supporters are sleeping out overnight in the Stadium this weekend to raise funds for the Foundation and Glasgow City Mission and can take comfort throughout both nights, which are scheduled to be very cold, that their support in ensuring that there will be no need for anyone to sleep rough in Glasgow this winter.
Building on the success of the updated service that Glasgow City Mission delivered in 2020/21, the charity aims to help the people most at risk of rough sleeping, ensuring vulnerable men and women will receive a hot meal, help and advice and the dignity of their own bedroom.
The Overnight Welcome Centre will open on 1 December and will close on 31 March and everyone who uses the centre will be supported in a bid to help them move on to more stable secure accommodation.
Our supporters have raised an incredible £210,000 for homeless projects over the last six years, the majority of which has helped Glasgow City Mission deliver crucial and ground-breaking projects addressing the causes and effects of homelessness in our city. We also supported several important homeless projects with Simon Community Scotland.
