Ready For Employment

Our Ready For Employment programme aims to improve the job prospects of local people in partnership with Jobcentre Plus by delivering an individualised training programme to help develop their skills, confidence and relevant experience.

Ready For Employment is aimed at those who are unemployed and aged 18 to 24 who face substantial barriers to gaining employment or progressing their personal development. Courses vary from 3 to 6 week programmes and regular attendance helps participants adjust to a work timetable and developing their skills and experience.

Workshops on the course include SQA qualifications and a range of different modules, such as Skills and Strengths Audit, CV Building, First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, Practical Application Skills, IT Skills, Communications Skills, Interview Techniques and Employer Expectations sessions.

A cleaner preparing to start workThe programme operates in partnership with a range of employers who offer participants experience and valuable insights into work and training – and possibly even a longer term work placement or full-time job at the end of the programme.  Partners include City Building, Tennent’s Training Academy, Elior Hospitality and Garrion Security plus various departments within Rangers FC itself, including grounds maintenance, hospitality and events, marketing, media, coaching and sports science.

Participants also have the opportunity to play football and develop coaching skills with an emphasis on team work, communication, motivation and discipline – all skills which are highly transferrable to the working environment.  An SFA Level 1 coaching certificate and First Aid certificate are tangible and valuable outcomes from this aspect of the programme.

Health and wellbeing and physical activity are ongoing features of the programme, as we encourage participants to take control of their lives on different levels, from their personal development and confidence to getting them back into the job market.

Ready For Employment also offers an aftercare service, allowing those who have completed the course to return one day a week for ongoing support and access to resources to help in them research job opportunities.

If you are interested in taking part, contact your work coach for more details.
