Foundation Donates To UNICEF Ukraine Emergency Appeal

Fri 4th March 2022

Rangers Charity Foundation supports UNICEF UK’s emergency appeal for Ukraine with a £15,000 donation to help provide immediate assistance to children and their families.

The escalating conflict in Ukraine is placing millions of children and their families across the country in immediate danger.

Eight years of armed conflict in eastern Ukraine had already disrupted the lives of more than 500,000 children, leaving them in desperate need of humanitarian assistance. Now, as conflict intensifies, 7.5 million children are at risk across the whole of Ukraine.

UNICEF, together with partners, is at the forefront of the humanitarian response in Ukraine and their teams are working around the clock to deliver urgent support to children and their families.

Evacuations are ongoing and as such, needs are wide-ranging from clean water and hygiene products to towels and blankets; gas burners to batteries; fuel to first aid kits.

Foundation Director Connal Cochrane said:

“It is hard to imagine what the people of Ukraine are experiencing at the moment, and for those who have been displaced as a result of this deepening crisis.  Our hearts go out to them.

The Foundation’s longstanding international partner UNICEF is always there for children and families in times of crisis and we hope this donation will help at such a difficult and harrowing time for the Ukrainian people.”

Jon Sparkes, Chief Executive at The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK), said:

“The situation in Ukraine is deteriorating, with thousands of families displaced and more than a hundred thousand on the move. That is why we are intensifying our action on the ground.

When partners, like Rangers Charity Foundation, respond so quickly to our humanitarian appeal, it helps us to act swiftly and provide assistance for those that need it most. In crises, timing is everything.

I would like to extend a big thank you – on behalf of the team at the UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK), as well as the UNICEF team in Ukraine – for your donations which will mean that we can support the children and families in Ukraine through our work. In practical terms, this includes helping to provide families with access to clean water and nutritious food and making sure that child health and protection services are sustained”

If anyone is able to and would consider supporting UNICEF’S humanitarian response they can donate to the international children’s charity’s appeal, here.
