Success for Prince’s Trust Initiative

Thu 14th July 2016

Young people from The Prince’s Trust have enjoyed a fantastic week at our ‘Get Started With Football’ programme, taking part in activities designed to boost their confidence and gain valuable skills and experience to help them into work or further education.

All the young people on the course are currently out of work but found that the intensive five day course helped them develop a clearer pathway for their future.  Not only did they gain an SFA Level 1 Football Coaching qualification, but they also learned transferable skills such as basic first aid and IT and presentation skills.  They even got to meet Rangers star Joey Barton at the Club’s exclusive training facility!

A special celebration event held at the end of the week is now being followed up with three months of additional support for participants to help them take their next steps into further education or employment and potentially a career in football coaching.

Thomas, who took part in the 5 day programme, commented, “I enjoyed being on the course I got to meet new people.  I would recommend this course to anyone, and if I could I would do it all over again. It helped me with my confidence and was just a great fun week.”

Jordan added, “It was fantastic! It was great to work with the coaches and staff.”
